Introducing Hope Solo, a Hot Soccer Babe
Kind of an odd name, Hope Solo, maybe she's related to Hans Solo. Anyways, Hope is a hottie and she was named the starting goalkeeper spot for Team USA at the Beijing Olympics. "Hope" they don't bench her for the final game this time...
Hope's pokies, do we feel nipply?
This is her bio from a Wikipedia:
Hope Solo (born July 30, 1981 in Richland, Washington) is a goalkeeper for the United States Women's National Soccer Team (US WNT). She attended Richland High School and the University of Washington. Her parents divorced when she was 6, yet she remained close to her father, a sometimes-homeless veteran who remained a major influence in her life until his sudden death in June 2007.
Solo played for several U.S. junior national soccer teams before joining the full US WNT in 2000. She was named a member of the Olympic team in 2004, making the 2004 Olympics in Athens as an alternate. Solo became the team's starting goalkeeper in 2005. She has recorded several clean sheets and once went 1,054 minutes without allowing a goal (a streak that ended in a 4-1 victory against France in the Algarve Cup).
As a forward in high school, Solo scored 109 goals, leading her team to three consecutive league titles from 1996-1998 and a state championship in her senior year. She was twice named a Parade All American.
At the University of Washington, Solo switched to the goalkeeper position and was the team's all-time leader in shutouts, saves, and goals against average (GAA). She was a four-time All-Pac-10 selection and a three-time NSCAA All-American.
Following her college career, Solo was drafted for the now defunct WUSA team Philadelphia Charge in 2003. She also played for Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC of Göteborg, Sweden in the Swedish Premier Division in 2004 and for Olympique Lyonnais in the French First Division in 2005.
2007 FIFA Women's World Cup
Solo was the starting goalkeeper for the United States in the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup giving up two goals in four games including consecutive shutouts of Sweden, Nigeria and England. Heading into the semifinal match against Brazil, U.S. coach Greg Ryan benched Solo in favor of 36-year old veteran U.S. keeper Briana Scurry, who had a strong history of performance against the Brazilians but had not played a complete game in three months. The U.S. lost to Brazil 4-0, ending a 51-game (regulation time) undefeated streak, while playing much of the match with 10 players after midfielder Shannon Boxx received a second yellow card at the end of the first half.
Post 2007 World Cup fallout
In an impromptu interview following the match, a clearly upset Solo criticized Ryan's decision, "It was the wrong decision, and I think anybody that knows anything about the game knows that. There's no doubt in my mind I would have made those saves. And the fact of the matter is it's not 2004 anymore. It's not 2004. And it's 2007, and I think you have to live in the present. And you can't live by big names. You can't live in the past. It doesn't matter what somebody did in an Olympic gold medal game in the Olympics three years ago. Now is what matters, and that's what I think." Many viewed her comments as being critical of Scurry's performance, although Solo released an apologetic statement the following day saying that was not her intent. On September 29, 2007, coach Greg Ryan announced that Solo would not be with the team and would not play in the third-place match against Norway the following day. Team captain Kristine Lilly stated that the decision on Solo was made by the team as a group. The U.S. went on to win against Norway 4-1.
Solo was named to the U.S. women's national soccer team roster for the post World Cup tour, but she didn't attend the first workout ahead of the first game against Mexico. The players' contract with the federation stipulated that anyone on the World Cup roster had the right to play in the tour. Greg Ryan said “We're initiating a process of reconciliation, and in doing that you can't mandate reconciliation. This isn't a made for Hollywood love story, this is a real story, and we're all working at that.” She was present for, but did not play in, any of the three games against Mexico, being replaced by Briana Scurry for the first and third matches, and Nicole Barnhart for the second. The third match against Mexico, on October 20, 2007, marked the end of the U.S. women's national team's 2007 season. The team is expected to regroup in January of 2008 to begin preparations for the 2008 Summer Olympics. Ryan, however, will not be involved; it was announced that his contract would not be renewed when it expired in December 2007
On June 23 2008, it was announced Solo will be the starting goalkeeper for the U.S. team at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Bejing. Brianna Scurry will not be with the team.

Introducing Shawn Johnson, a Gymnastics Hottie
Get used to the name, Shawn Johnson. By the end of August, she'll be a household name everywhere. It's a close call between her and Nastia Liukin but I personally think Shawn's going to be the one that will go all the way in Beijing for Team USA in gymnastics.
Shawn Johnson at US Olympic trials,
Here is her bio from Wikipedia,
Shawn Johnson (born January 19, 1992 in Des Moines, Iowa) is an American gymnast. She is the 2007 World All-Around Champion, as well as the 2007 and 2008 U.S. National All-Around Champion.
Shawn Johnson qualified to Junior International Elite status on her first attempt. She first attracted widespread attention at the 2005 U.S. Classic, where she placed 3rd in the junior division.
At the 2005 U.S. National Championships, Johnson struggled on the first day of competition, falling from the beam and on the floor, and eventually placed tenth.
By 2006, Johnson was ready with new skills, including a Jaeger on bars, a rarely-seen tucked full-in beam dismount, and an even rarer tucked double-twisting double back somersault on the floor exercise. She won the 2006 U.S. Junior National All-Around Champion with a score higher than any of the senior elite competitors that year.
For 2008, Shawn upgraded all four of her events in her bid to become a member of the U.S. delegation to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. She is planning:
* Vault - Amanar (originated by Simona Amânar) - 2 1/2 twisting, laid out Yurchenko], adding 0.7 in difficulty
* Bars - Reverse Hect Tkatchev, adding 0.2 in difficulty
* Floor - A whip to a triple full (replacing her double pike pass), Full in dismount, adding 0.5 in difficulty
* Beam - Front Pike, adding 0.1 in difficulty
Shawn competed in the American Cup on March 1, 2008 in Madison Square Garden. It was a very good meet for her, and an opportunity to attempt new elements she has been working on. Her first was on vault where she attempted her new 2 1/2 twisting Yurchenko vault. She had been working on them during the warm-ups and kept over-rotating, so she scaled it back during the meet in the hopes of sticking the vault. Unfortunately, she fell which cost her 0.8 points, but she still managed to receive a 15.175 for her score (the difficulty for a 2 1/2 twisting layed-out Yurchenko vault is a 6.5). She performed very well on her remaining three events, scoring a 15.625 on uneven bars, a 16.325 on balance beam and a 15.975 on floor exercise. She was ranked 1st on all her events except for uneven bars, but was still beat out of the all-around by 2 time American Cup Champion (2005-2006) Nastia Liukin. Nastia won mainly due to her 16.600 on uneven bars, which was nearly a point higher than Shawn's uneven bar score.
One week later, Shawn competed at a more low-key competition in Jesolo, Italy against Italy, Spain, and Poland, with teammates Jana Bieger, Olivia Courtney, Chelsea Davis, Bridget Sloan, and Samantha Peszek. The U.S. took the junior and senior all-around team titles, and Shawn took the individual all-around title with 61.7 points to outscore second place winner Vanessa Ferrari (60.1) Shawn also took the highest scores on three of four events, on vault (15.2), beam (16.2), and floor (15.0 with a big step out of bounds on her double-double.)
On June 7, 2008, Shawn competed and beat Nastia Liukin in the 2008 U.S. National Championships, paving the way to a team effort taking them to the Olympic trials. The reigning world champion took the first round in a rivalry with teammate Nastia Liukin that is sure to captivate all the way through the Beijing Olympics, winning her second straight title at the U.S. gymnastics championships. Johnson finished with a score of 127.5, edging Liukin by one point.
The top 12 and others chosen by the selection committee now advance to the Olympic Trials to be held on June 19-22 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The top two at trials earn spots in Beijing, with the remaining four members of the team and up to three alternates named after a July 20 selection camp at the Karolyi ranch.
On June 22, 2008 Johnson and Nastia Liukin were named to the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team bound for The 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China; Johnson winning the Olympic Trials and Liukin coming in as the second place.

Introducing Blanka Vlasic, a Hot High Jumping Babe
With the Summer Olympics coming up in Beijing, another hot high jumper babe to keep an eye on is Croatian hottie Blanka Vlasic. She's rail thin, but she's got great legs.
Strike a pose,
This is her bio from a Wikipedia:
November 8, 1983 in Split) is a Croatian high jumper and current world champion. Her personal best jump at 2.07 m is also the national record and was set on August 07, 2007. Only two women (one indoor and one outdoor) have jumped higher than this.
Blanka was named after Casablanca, a city where her father competed at the 1983 Mediterranean Games around the time of her birth. She became a world champion in 2007 World Championships in Athletics with a jump of 2.05 m. She previously won the high jump bronze medal at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships, and before that she was a double world junior champion.
She competed at the 2000 and 2004 Olympics without much success, although she was aged just sixteen and twenty at the respective times.
She finished 4th in the high jump final at the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg earning the distinction of becoming the first athlete not to win a medal with a jump higher than 2 m (she cleared 2.01 m, but she needed more attempts than Bronze Medalist, Kajsa Bergqvist).
Blanka Vlašić used to be coached by her father Joško, a former decathlete, whose personal best, set in 1984, still stands as the Croatian national record; the two are a rare example of father and daughter simultaneously holding athletics national records. She is now coached by Bojan Marinovic.
As of 2007, Vlašić is the world's top-ranked high jumper, as well as being first in the overall rankings.
Vlašić currently has an unbeaten streak of 24 competitions and has had 47 competitions over 2 m, which ranks her third, behind Kajsa Bergqvist (52) and Stefka Kostadinova (30).
Vlašić is known for striking a pose after she clears a height, she first done this in the IAAF World Championships in Osaka 2007.
Blanka is six feet and four inches (193 cm or 1.93 m) tall, taller than most male high jumpers. She was featured as the celebrity counterpart in a 'celebrity trades places with ordinary joe'-type show named "Mjenjačnica" (The Exchange), where the 'ordinary joe' was a black man, a rare example of a black shepherd in a rural part of Croatia, Dalmatinska Zagora.
